This is my personal account of activities from the SharePoint Conference 2014.

Day 4 – Meeting new Partners & Session on Legal

There were some great sessions today, one on Legal particularly was well worth attending. Also was great to find out that Microsoft and SAP are really working well together, fits neatly in with our strategy partnering with Cordis who have taken full advantage providing a slick SAP experience in SharePoint.

Last session of the day was a fantastic session by Microsoft legal that really opened my eyes to the power and benefits of companies implementing eDiscovery. What was absolutely staggering from this session was the saving that eDiscovery made to Microsoft’s Legal team bill of $3.7 million a year, some interesting stats shown below. Great session to watch: Click Here     image

To end what started a bit of a slow day for me, I literally speeded things up by attending ‘The Las Vegas Speedway’ in the evening. What an amazing experience, unfortunately didn’t do any driving myself but was passenger around the track, which was a pretty cool experience… Especially when enjoyed with a corndog

Day 5 – The last day: Knowledge Share session/’The Conference Streaker!’

The last day of the conference proved to have what I felt was the best session of the whole conference by Jan Skjoy on Knowledge Management. If there is one session that you watch in my Blog series, make sure it’s this one: Knowledge Management with SharePoint and Yammer was brilliant to see how to motivate organizations to work together for solutions to their business problems. A video featured in this session I think explains the benefits of Knowledge Sharing using SharePoint and Yammer brilliantly! A must watch video with a hint of comedy… The Wrench Connection. Jan explained brilliantly that DNV first needed to understand how they were trying to share knowledge, define the different ways, then map technology to it. An example from DNV below summarises this well in a real life take on how they achieved changing their Knowledge Share strategy within their business.

I thought I would have a wonder around the exhibition hall and discovered we had just won 1st place at the SharePoint conference for ‘Most Business Value’ for our Task Auditor App, very proud of our guys! See here for more information and to download the app for Project Server+

This day was great for networking, managed to form two new great partnerships with Record Point and Extrico, was great meeting Andrew Phethean and Jesper Christensen, great guys, great businesses!

On the way out of the exhibition hall, the AC must of stopped working, it clearly got too hot for some…
